Trump Promises Additional Patriots to Ukraine
Speaking to journalists at Joint Base Andrews, just outside of Washington, on Sunday evening, Trump emphasized the urgency of the situation: “We will send them Patriots, which they desperately need, because [Russian President Vladimir] Putin really surprised a lot of people. He talks nice and then bombs everybody in the evening. But there’s a little bit of a problem there. I don’t like it.”
Trump did not specify whether his statement referred solely to ammunition or if it included the missile systems themselves.
He acknowledged that the exact number of units had yet to be determined, although he confirmed Ukraine “would have some because they do need protection.”
He went on to stress that the cost would not fall on the United States, stating, “But the European Union is paying for them. We are not paying anything for them… This will be a business for us.”
Trump’s comments followed multiple media reports suggesting that his administration was evaluating a new aid package.
This proposed support could involve both defensive and offensive missile technology.
In the past, Trump confirmed he had authorized deliveries of defensive weapons, though he did not elaborate on what was included.
